We love cab. Napa Valley is famous for Cab and since we can technically see Napa from the vineyard, we went with Cabernet for our fruit. I found a great company in Santa Rosa -NovaVine- http://www.novavine.com/ that had an amazing selection of varietals for a great price. I also really liked that they are local.
We went with 21 DPBG (Dormant Potted Bench Graft) 1103P (Paulsen) Cabernet Sauvignon Vines. 1103 is a strain that was engineered for extra drought tolerance and disease resistance. The -P- comes specifically from a Dr. Paulsen at UC Davis.
I ordered them in early March, it took 2 weeks to get to us, and I set them up temporarily in their housings in their original pots in the backyard for 2 weeks to acclimate to the climate.
They came in 3.5 inch pots- and were each about 7 inches tall including roots- a few had buds already and 2 had a tiny leaf and buds.
